South America is known for many places. One of the driest of them is the Atacama Desert. Covering about 140,000 square kilometers between both Chile and Peru, this desert marks the second largest in the continent.
The topography features red rocks and is filled with vast salt flats, caverns, and tall volcanoes. Of which, includes one of the highest, most active on earth – the San Pedro Volcano.
Maybe you’ll recognize the name as it is also name to one of the desert’s most well-known Chilean villages: San Pedro de Atacama.
