1) VISIT PORTO’S HISTORIC CENTER (AKA RIBEIRA)
Ribeira is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a testament to the city’s rich history. Its narrowing streets, colorful buildings, and medieval architecture create a charming and picturesque atmosphere.
The Ribeira Square, with its bustling cafes and restaurants, offers a lively gathering place for locals a visitors alike.
2) EXPERIENCE DOURO RIVER WITH A BOAT TOUR
The Douro River is closely associated with Porto because of the way it winds throughout the city. So, naturally, a sightseeing tour on the river is going to give you some of the best views of the city.

The city’s connection to the famous Port wine industry is also super significant as Porto serves as home to many renowned Port wine cellars. Here, visitors can learn about the production process and indulge in tastings.

The most famous example is the Livraria Lello, a beautifully designed bookstore with an intricate wooden staircase that is said to have inspired J.K. Rowling in her Harry Potter series.
Another example is the São Bento Train station. This architectural gem is known for its stunning azulejo (ceramic tile) panels that depict historical events.

Housed in a striking contemporary building surrounded by beautiful gardens, this is a must-visit for art enthusiasts.

Near to the Serralves is the charming and upscale district of Foz (aka “Foz do Douro“).

For stunning views of the Atlantic, walk along the picturesque waterfront, Avenida do Brasil.

Porto is a culinary paradise. There are so many traditional dishes the city is famous for.
Some of the most notable to try are the flavorful Francesinha sandwich and the bacalhau (salted codfish) specialties.
Here in the city, you’ll find a wide range of seafood, pastries like the delicious pastel de nata, and of course the opportunity to pair meals with exceptional Port wines.

Situated on a hilltop, the Jardins do Palácio de Cristal provide the most breathtaking panoramic views of the city, the Douro River, and the surrounding landscape.
The palace no longer exists, but the park itself still maintains high royal vibes. Lush green spaces, perfectly sculpted lawns and diverse flora. This place oozes romance.
So if you’re looking for the perfect place to spark some intimacy, this place is scattered with secluded spots, small ponds, and charming gazebos that will help enhance the overall enchanting ambiance. A perfect city escape for two.
9) DISCOVER THE BOLHÃO DISTRICT
Bolhão is a historic and lively area famous for its traditional market, Mercado do Bolhão.
With all the local gastronomy here, it’s an excellent place to purchase local delights. Look out for regional products such as cheeses, sausages, dried fruits, and traditional pastries. Don’t miss the opportunity to taste the famous “tripas à moda do Porto,” a traditional Porto dish made with tripe.
10) VISIT THE ICONIC CLERIGOS TOWER
One of Porto’s most iconic landmarks and a must-visit attraction if you’re seeking worthwhile experiences in Porto.
After spiraling up 225 steps, you’ll be rewarded with a stunning 360-degree view of Porto’s historic center, the Douro River, and the surrounding rooftops.

Known as the downtown area of Porto, Baixa is a vibrant and bustling neighborhood with plenty to offer.
Avenida dos Aliados it the grand boulevard in the Baixa District. Lined with beautiful buildings, this avenue is a hub of activity and a popular meeting point for locals and visitors.
Praça da Liberdade is located at the end of Avenida dos Aliados and serves as a great place to stop for some people-watching.
